What can I expect from therapy sessions?
You can expect me to engage you in a lot of dialogue by asking questions that are intended for deeper understanding of you, exploration of thoughts and patterns, and untangling barriers that keep you from your full potential. Therapy is most effective if you come in with an open mind. All to say, yes, we will do a lot of talking!

I'm not "mentally ill", so why would I need therapy?
While therapists do work with individuals with severe mental/emotional illnesses, most people who come to therapy are highly-functioning individuals who are looking for relief from a current situation that they are unsatisfied with. I am a firm believer that the earlier we tackle an issue, the greater the chance that the issue won't get out of hand. Just like our medical health, we should never wait to take care of ourselves until something feels completely unbearable.

How long will I be in therapy for?
Unfortunately there is no standard to length of therapy since so many factors go into an individual's progress. What can be said is that my goal is to get you to reach your fullest potential in the shortest period of time possible, and that you always get to decide when you feel ready to terminate therapy.

How long have you been practicing?
I have been practicing psychotherapy continuously since graduating with my Master's Degree from Boston College in 2002.

Will my employer know any information about my therapy?
Therapy is strictly confidential and your employer will not have the right to know anything about your therapy process. If your services were referred through an EAP (employee assistance program), your employer may know that you have been referred, but will not know the details of your therapy process.
